By “pounding the pavement” I mean “jogging,” but you can do any cardiovascular exercise to significantly increase your overall health, which will, in turn, help your to fight off psoriasis. Here’s the catch: You have to exercise on a regular basis.
Come to think of it, my psoriasis became bothersome for the first time around the time I stopped exercising regularly, about four years ago (I had to get a desk job to pay the bills).
I personally love jogging. It is one of the quickest, cheapest and most enjoyable methods I have know of to burn calories and encourage the body to clean itself out. I’ve also found that jogging for long distances helps my body recover faster from the soreness that can result from really strenuous activity (such going overboard in the gym).
Cardiovascular exercise (or any activity that gets your heart and lungs working) has a long list of positive side effects that also happen to be some of the most influential factors in curing psoriasis.
Exercising on a regular basis:
- Increases your energy levels throughout the day.
- Helps you to sleep more soundly.
- Kills stress.
- Drives away depression as it increases your body’s endorphin levels.
- Encourages oxygenation and blood-flow throughout the body.
- Increases your body’s ability to process and absorb nutrients.
- Is vital to maintaining healthy weight levels.
As part of your exercise regimen be sure you keep monitoring you keep eating psoriasis-friendly foods.
